Sougeal's marshes are renowned for the production of pike, which increased specially after the modernisation of the hydraulic systems. Many types of water birds frequent this marshland... Admist all the marshes, the marshes of Sougeal are most inhabited by all sorts of ducks, specially for their nightly feeds (colvert ducks, whistling ducks, chirping birds, pintails, winter teals). Since many years cattle, horses, geese graze together on the marshes od Sougeal.
