Tourism and Disability

Even though it is more than twenty years since the law allowing the disabled access to leasure and holidays, came into place, not much has improved.
According to the foundations it is difficult to find an adequate solution to the following :
Accessible accomodation, transport, leisures amenities, educating professionals in the tourist industry to be able to correctly care for the disabled.
Professionals in the tourist industry, disabled people, their foundations and the ministery of tourism have worked together to create a label "Tourism disability". Tourist operators which have been awarded this label will supply reliable and accurate information with which the disabled tourist can make a proper choice.

This label is awarded to professionals in the tourist industry who have shown efforts to achieve the highest quality... A policy of the delegate of the ministery of tourism.

This national label has 2 objectives :
- To give reliable and accurate information on accessility to sites and tourist amenities, with all types of disability in mind.

To develop an adapted tourist offer (According to the internet site of the tourism managemen, tourisme.gouv.fr)

The tourist office of Dol de Bretagne and Pleine Fougères is working hard to obtain this label. Various issues concerning local welcome have been solved and people have been trained. All needs to be finished before the label Tourism for the disabled will be offically awarded.
