Architectural Heritage

This is an area with so much to see – the cathedral and mediaeval houses in Dol , the Brégain Tower in La Boussac (the remains of an ancient priory ), the Chappe Telegraph at Saint Marcan ,the church in Pleine-Fougères with its recumbent statue , St Anne’s Chapel in St Broladre ,windmills in Cherrueix and the Chapel our Lady of hope on Mont Dol

The few standing stones and other Stone Age monuments such as the Champ Dolent in Dol are also part of this architectural heritage .

Thanks to memories of leading figures such as St Samson , founder of bishopric of Dol , and great writers such as Chateaubriand and Victor Hugo , the Dol area is a rewarding , cultural holiday venue .

The church , rustic chapels and wayside Crosses , all of them real gems of architectural prowess , are a typical feature of faith in Britttany.

All the old buildings around Dol and Mont Saint Michel Bay have tales to tell of the many attacks to which Brittany has been subject and the often difficult life of our forefathers .
